Week 14: The End & My Proj.
Click the link to visit the Wiki I designed for my prototype.
On the Wiki site there is also a link to a blog that is part of the project.
Enjoy!

Idea
I set out to make an online community resource for teen students. With this resource, in which I chose Wiki as a format, teens could upload homework, read and write reviews for movies and books, take part in library activities, and discuss the community around them. The reason why I chose Wiki format is to give the teens some kind of autonomy over what goes on the site. I mean I designed it as a space for teens online, so I don't want to be seen as a policing figure.
In order to provide an alternative solution to those who would be interested in the content, but not in Wiki format, I made a news blog that people could access and guarantee was written by a staff member, which might give the information some kind of authority.
I linked the wiki and blog back to one another as they effectively function as one unit, and one without the other cannot do the job I'd hoped to do.
I think it turned out how I wanted, I just wish I knew how to format the site to make it as nice as some others we've seen. *cough* Barb *cough* Once I take my web design class next semester, I may take another stab at it to pretty it up!
As far as the class goes...
It has been a real blast guys, and I think I would even consider doing an online course again because I had a great time with this one.
Feel free to add me one facebook, for the ones that use it. :D

Dennis...
Thanks for sharing your final! I liked the premise very much and I could see that with a good introduction, it could be really well used. Wish I had had something like that in highschool. Appreciated too, throughout the course, your comments and passion about gaming. I learned a lot. Take care!

Hey Dennis - I liked how
Hey Dennis -
I liked how you mixed both a blog and a wiki for your project. I think your site would really appeal to teens. Since starting theprogram I have often found myself wishing my library had done more for teens when I was that age...
I feel the same way. I feel
I feel the same way. I feel cheated having gone my entire teen years only using the library as a study place and book lending service. :(
